The river Affall is located 10 km east of the small town Hvolsvöllur and 23 km east of Hella on the southcoast of Iceland. Affall is 130 km East of the capital Reykjavik and 170 km from the International Airport in Keflavik. All services are in Hvolsvollur. Postoffice-Bank-Market-Gas station and restaurants. It's a small and delicate river so anglers need to approach it carefully so the fish doesn't get spooked. It has many small pools where the salmon and trout hide in, and anglers need to start fishing those pools quite a bit above them. It's very challenging to get fish in this river, but at the same time very rewarding.
The river is around 14 km long as has about 40 marked catching places. It's best to use very light fishing gear and long leaders. Avarage salmon weights about 6 pounds, and of course, the bigger ones hide in there also. There is also a change of catching a searunned arctic char which is strong and most delicious on the dish.
